Golf Instructor - How To Pick The Right Coach For Your Kid?

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

There are many things a parent must take into account when choosing a golf instructor for their child. This is a big decision to take as the instructor can make or break a Childs enthusiasm I the game of golf, or any sport for that mater. For starters, you should never rush into choosing an instructor for your child. There can not be a bigger mistake; you should take some time off your schedule to pick the best instructor from a group. You should see the instructor’s personal game and knowledge about the game. You should also watch out for the instructor’s inclination to deal and work with children as this can be a very frustrating job.

Your job begins with searching for the instructor that has some experience dealing with children. You must also try to get the most experienced instructor possible. Training children is a lot different from training adults, you need an instructor that will not badger the child but will work patiently with him or her. You will make a mistake if you choose an instructor who has just started to training people in the game of golf. Knowledge of the sport does not mean that the instructor can transfer that knowledge to the learner. So you must choose an experienced golf instructor.

The instructor you choose must be able to offer you verifiable references as well. Especially useful are references of children they have taught in the past and those that are doing well in the sport. If you are not able to watch the child in practice you should at least try to call up and speak to the child’s parents over the phone. They may have a better alternative to the instructor you are considering for your child.

In instructor that specializes working with children is a great bet. Your child will be able to settle in with the group of children this is a good way to learn golf as opposed to individual golf lessons. Some instructors work with a group of children, this does not mean that your child will not get the required attention. It is always better for the child to learn with a group as the spirit of competition is also developed and children are good observers. A child will be able to detect mistakes made by other children and will be able to improve their own golf techniques.

An instructor with a harsh style of instruction is not a good bet for a child. Instructors must have a lot of patience with children. It is important to choose an instructor that will boost the child’s morale as the game of golf, with all its rewards and benefits can drain one of all the morale we have. So spend some time, invest in your child’s sporting future and get the perfect instructor to teach your child the game of golf, you and your child will be all the grateful for the best instructor.
