Golf Driver Problems

Golf driver problems cause many handicap golfers a lot of frustration. Without a doubt, the driver is the trickiest golf club in the bag to play consistently well. True, every handicap golfer has days when the drives go straight and long, but these tend to be the exception.

The next round you play, the ball goes all round the golf links. Anywhere but on the fairway, which is of course the preferred target area.

So what are the some of the common golf driver problems?

1.Slicing. This is when the trajectory of the ball is either high or low, and the shot curves in an arc, starting to the left of the intended target and then bends round to the right. Some golfers deliberately allow for the slice, but it is a risky shot for the handicap golfer to play because it can land you in trouble in the rough.

2.Hooking. When you hit a hooked shot the ball curves in the opposite direction to that described in the sliced golf shot. It can be similarly devastating in landing you in some serious off the fairway hazard.

3.Topped shot. This is when you raise your head too early on the downswing, and the ball scuttles along close to the ground.

4.The skied drive. This is the one golfers find embarrassing. The ball climbs upwards into the sky at a very steep angle, and keeps going upwards. As all the energy of the shot has gone upwards rather than outwards, there is no distance in the shot. You would be lucky to make a hundred yards.

It is surprising how many of these golf faults can be cured quickly.
