Glenn Mcdonald asked:

Blaming your moves, shots and swings for your golf mis-hits and mishaps? Well, no matter how much time and effort you have been spending over practicing your moves to perfect your game, you still won’t achieve your goal if you use unsuitable or defective types of golf equipment will you?
Now is high time for you to consider the following golf tips that involve checking on your equipment’s quality.
If you plan to choose used golf clubs as beginner’s tools, scrutinizing before purchasing is a must. The club heads, the shafts, and the grips are golf club parts that should pass inspection first before landing a decent spot in your golf equipment cabinet. Another excellent golf tip that will get you through the game is making sure that the set of used golf clubs you’re eyeing have set consistency. It will also help a lot if you check first the price of new clubs vs. used.
A golf tip for a golfer that plans to regrip his clubs: Be cautious. This is because the grips are the only contact points one can access to affect the shot. Before carrying out the regripping, know the core grip of the club and your hands grip size. To determine your core size grip, measure the diameter of the butt of the shaft you’re going to re-grip. The shaft’s diameter should match the grip’s core diameter. In determining your hands grip, the available size grips are regular, mid-size, oversize and jumbo. Use only the best re-gripping materials that will provide optimum performance for your golf clubs.
Another golf tip or advice is that using ill-fitted clubs will be an obstacle to your golf playing success. A golfer must consider his or her body type in choosing the best-fitting equipment to support and deliver his backswings efficiently. Too steep angles in carrying out backswings may be avoided if one selects the perfect fitting equipment available.
Custom golf club fitting makes a better option than just buying new golf clubs. Getting custom fitting golf clubs is a golf tip that translates to a very worthy investment. The uniqueness of each person is attributed to the need of this way of buying new golf clubs. A custom fitting produces golf clubs that specifically suit the height, strength, swing characteristics and club head speed of the golfer.
The type of club shaft also helps in predicting whether you’ll do well in a game or you won’t. There’s a choice between a steel club shaft and a graphite-made club shaft. This golf tip aims to make you realize which type of golf club shaft will benefit your game. Observations tell that the steel club shafts are more preferred by professional golfers while graphite shafts become more popular with women, senior players and beginners. Steel shafts are less expensive than graphite shafts though.
One more golf tip that could help you is that the golf clubs that must be the main content of your bag must suit your skill level. Since various skill levels need various golf clubs, it won’t be wise to just use or bring a golf club that is just lying around. And, don’t ever forget about the maximum golf club load your bag is allowed to hold. You can only bring 14 golf clubs in your bag. No more. No less. Aside from your skill level contemplation, your mastery of a certain golf club and your being comfortable with using it must also be put into consideration in deciding which golf club to hit.
A good combination of the right moves and good choice of equipment will better arm you to become the best golfer you could ever be.

Kathleen

Reggie Dunn asked:

You can safely say that golf tips are the thoughts you harbor in your subconscious mind as you swing that golf club of yours. At the end of the day what matters is how well the golf tips work, irrespective of where it came from - another player or a golf veteran or that indisputably terrific player you came across at your most recent golf vacation in Las Vegas.
Our minds and bodies have their own unique system of working. When your mind is uncluttered then your body seems to work the best. This phrase means that you just let your body do its thing rather than trying to think through your actions. The trick is to train yourself to make this a custom and not an uncommon feat of achievement.
Here comes the first tip. Learn how to switch off your mind and give permission to your body to swing without interrupting it consciously. Your body remembers how to swing it correctly, if you have successfully done that.
A terrific way to materialize such a thing is to recall the time when you had achieved that fantastic swing. Visualize the scene in detail. Then remember how it felt. Mentally play it out in your inner eye and get back that wonderful feeling again. Now play it out. This is an easy, simple and effective exercise.
Understand that a good grip is the first step towards playing good golf. For your performance on the course your golf grip is crucially of consequence.
Most of the professional golfers have very similar golf grips. So keep your eyes open.
You have to experiment to find the hand position that suits your individual style the best. It is something you must train yourself for. Being consistent is the most crucial thing. Stick with the grip once you land upon it through the trial and error method.

Only when you hold the club exactly in a similar way every single time can you really tell whether your golf grip gives you the achieved outcome. Practice and learn to grip the golf club the same way whenever you play.
So your second golf tip is to find out the golf grip that works best for you and continue with it.
When you choose a club that always make sure to ask yourself, “How far must I back off of this swing?” the 75% rule works best. Make a ¾ backswing and follow through, concentrating on controlling the direction and distance of the shot.
A club that is heavy will give you the force you need to improve your control and aiming the target. If you practice with heavier clubs then you will have the capacity to swing with more control since you will not be investing all your strength into it.
You will see that you are making better contacts more and more with the ¾ swing and will now begin to hit the ball farther with that wonderful control in your swing than the full whack.
The third golf trip is to play with a heavier club and lower your swing to 75%. This way you will get power and control that is much better.

Kelly

Jitender Zaman asked:

Improving your golfing scores can be a difficult task to accomplish in particular if the amount of time you have to give towards practice is limited. However if you do practice the right way and work on the right things then you still stand a good chance at improving even if you do not spend a lot of time at the range.

Developing the right swing mechanics is very important if you want to become a better golfer. If you are a beginner then it is a very good idea to get a few basic lessons from a local golf professional. Keep in mind that a perfect swing is not necessary in order to lower your golf scores. Even on the PGA tour the golfers mishit many of their shots however it is their short game that allows them to save par even on holes where their tee shots go offline.

You need to be consistent if you really want to improve in the game of golf. This means that you need to spend a few minutes on a regular basis at least 4 to 5 times a week at the range hitting balls and working on your short game. You do not need to spend hours practicing in fact it can actually be counter productive to spend that much time practicing since you will just wear yourself out. Keep in mind that even though golf is not the most physical sport it still does require energy and concentration on every shot so do not wear yourself out both physically and mentally.

You really do not need to take more than a few lessons just to learn the basics. Following this you will begin to really learn the game as you begin practicing. In fact many golf pros on the PGA tour are totally self taught, you can watch one of your favorite golfers and try to copy their swing. The greater amounts of time you spend practicing the more you will discover about how to swing a golf club and better you will get a striking a golf ball. Set some long term targets to help keep you on track as well as to make the game more interesting. For instance you could set a target to lower your handicap by a certain number of shots six months from now.

During every practice session make sure you take some time to chip and hit some flop shots around the greens. These shots can make a huge difference in your golf score so put some effort into mastering them. Hit a variety of different shots around the greens from varying lies and positions and do not forget to hit a few bunker shots too. Hitting wedge shots from inside of 120 yards is a very important skill and is very important to lowering your golf score so make sure you spend a good bit of time working on these kinds of shots.

It is not necessary to put in significant time with the driver. Keep in mind that the driver requires the most energy to hit so if you are trying to hit a lot of drives one after the other you are bound to get tired very quickly and if you are tired your performance will suffer. Another important tip to keep in mind is that when you are about to hit the golf ball you need to stay sharply focused on your targets and you must not think about swing mechanics. This is very important when you are out on the course where you must develop the ability to trust your swing no matter where the previous shot went.

Putting is one the most crucial aspects to the game of golf and shooting lower scores but you need to keep in mind that it is really a mental game more than anything else. You need to pick a putting approach you feel comfortable with and stick with it. There is no such thing as a perfect stroke so do not get caught up in chasing it. Instead focus on building and maintaining your confidence as this is the key to great putting. You must believe the ball will go in the hole every time you step over a putt. Be consistent with your practice routines, believe in yourself and there is no reason you cannot shoot lower golf scores.

Jackie

Wade Robins asked:

Tiger Woods is the undisputed king of professional golf. With a smooth technique you could set your watch by, he makes winning those championships look like a walk in the park.

Imagine if you could sit with Tiger for a few minutes and pick his brain to help improve your game. Here are some great golf tips from Tiger Woods.

It’s All About Rhythm

Every player has their own natural rhythm. Some players are energetic and full of motion; others are stoic and deep in concentration.

Tiger says that when he’s playing his best, everything he does is just second nature. He just goes with the flow, and there’s little else involved. That’s because he’s found just the right groove that suits his natural rhythm.

If the rhythm’s off, Tiger misses a swing or two. When things are flowing for him, he has to work a little to get it back into a natural rhythm.

So, how do you learn to keep your natural rhythm? There are a few ways Tiger suggests to help you find your groove and keep it.

Stick To Your Routine

Rhythm and consistency are important, so how you get ready both physically and mentally for the game is essential. Tiger has a practice routine that he does before every single game. He uses the same clubs, and the last club he uses for his pre-game warm-up is the one he plans to use for the first hole.

The point isn’t to practice swinging, but to get into your groove.

The First Hole Is The Most Important

Long before he swings for that first hole, Tiger plans the whole game ahead. He prepares himself for the game mentally and emotionally. This involves relaxation, and deciding his game plan beforehand.

An awkward, uncertain first shot is a sure-fire rhythm-killer.

Keep Things Steady

To keep your rhythm going, you have to keep the tempo steady. When you get stressed, you start to speed things up. All that nervous energy makes you hurry to the next hole, and you end up making silly mistakes you wouldn’t have made otherwise.

The next time you watch Tiger play, pay attention to the way he walks to the next hole. Even after a great shot, you’ll never see him rush on to the next one. He’ll pump his fist, smile, and stroll to the next hole with the same leisurely pace.

Tiger recommends a good pre-routine warm-up that helps you get into a relaxed frame of mind. This will get you started on the right foot. For more info see http://www.getgoodatgolf.com/ on golf course.

Posture Means Perfect

When asked for practical golf tips, Tiger Woods always mentions posture. Tiger always stands straight and tall, a decent distance from the ball so that he can keep his chin up. Lots of golfers (including Tiger when he was a beginner) put their address position too close to the ball, and end up having to bow their head down too much. Tiger says to keep a good distance away so you don’t have to lean over the ball.

Tiger Woods is not only one of the best players, he’s also one of the most reflective. Perhaps the key to his success is his ability to look at his mistakes and shortcomings, and work to improve them, instead of getting frustrated. This is why his golf tips are so helpful to his fans. When you blow it, think about why you did it. Then, correct it next time, and you’ll see improvement.

Cindy

Kristi Ambrose asked:

Almost all of us have that one favorite sport that they really enjoy participating in, reading about, or watching, I personally love to swim and box. But if you’re like many of the other people on earth you probably like a little thing called golf! In 2005 Golf Digest speculated that there were nearly 32,000 courses in the world, half of them being in the USA! And, according to the National Golf Foundation in the year 2000 over 6.9 million people from the USA were playing golf!

That’s pretty amazing. Some people can’t see the attraction to golf, they think it’s boring and whatnot. But once you’ve been out on that course, you know what’s what and why you enjoy it so much. I find golf to be a really relaxing but challenging game to play when I’ve had a hard and long day at work!

So what about those people, the ones that really enjoy it? How do they get their hands on some really nice golf equipment products and accessories? Can you buy this stuff online? You sure can! And what’s better, you can find absolutely anything under the sun that you could ever possibly want! Some of the things you could find online are golf balls, tees, clubs, apparel and shoes. And, if you REALLY enjoy golf you are also probably really into golf outings, golf trips, and golf resorts. No problem, you can find tons of information about all these things and more!

If your checking out places online to buy actual golf equipment and accessories your best bet would be to go to one of the more popular brand name websites that are well-know. Sites like DicksSportingGoods, GolfDiscount, SportsAuthority or CallawayGolfPreowned. The last site is nice because you can buy a really great set of clubs that are still pretty darn new for half the price!

Now if you’re interested in things like golf outings or golf resorts why not try some sites like PGAresort, or GolfLink. PGAresort offers things like golf specials and packages, products, PGA National Golf Academy, memberships, or plan a tournament which actually allows you to play the PGA course and plan a tournament or group game with all your friends! GolfLink is a simple web site that lets you search by keyword, course name, city, state and zip code to find the closest course to where you live or where you will be staying.

If you’re interested in finding more resort sites like the ones listed above you’re in luck because the pages go on and on and on! Simply go to Google and search for “Golf Resort Sites”, “Stay At A Golf Resort”, “Find A Golf Resort Near Me” or “Golf Clubs And Accessories.”

Justin

George Gabriel asked:

Playing a chip shot from the fringe of a green versus putting through the fringe can be a little confusing for the average golfer. A lot of golfers choose to putt for the fear of not being able to control the distance of a chip shot around a green, and lets not talk about choking a chip shot. More often than not the confidence lies in the ability to putt the ball. When do you decide to chip instead of putt?

A quick review of some your options will help in the decision process. The circumstances have to be right to putt the ball. Here are some golf tips to consider and several situations to help your decision on choosing to chip the golf ball rather than electing to putt.

You may want to chip in these circumstances.

(1)Wet grass or thick grass.

The moisture or thickness of the grass is going to slow up the ball considerably, therefore weight of putt has to be determined to get it through the grass, and once you get it rolling on the green, the weight of putt it took you to get it through the fringe may not be enough or too much distance for the golf hole. In this circumstance there is too much weight control to consider.

(2)A very wet or slow green.

Chipping the golf ball will take a lot of moisture out of play, and a slow green forces you to swing harder with a putter to get the golf ball up to the hole, when the art of putting should call for a soft touch.

(3)Long grass and uphill to the hole.

You have to hit it harder to get it through the grass with a putter and up to the hole. Eliminate the chance of getting the golf ball caught up in the grass by chipping out and over.

(4)Over 7 feet of grass between golf ball and start of green, and hole is beyond center of green.

Chipping over the grass will eliminate slowing the golf ball up if you have a lot of green to work with.

(5)Hole is beyond center of green and more than 20 feet.

The odds are higher on getting the golf ball beyond 20 feet with a chipper versus a putter.

(6)Sprinkler system directly in front of line to golf hole or other obstacle that will affect the roll of golf ball.

Eliminate possible deflection of golf ball by chipping over the obstacle.

(7)Too much rolling terrain in the first 1/3 distance to the hole.

Taking most of the rolling green out of play by chipping over will give you a lot less rolling green to read unless you are very good at reading greens.

You have the ultimate decision on your ability to play any one of these golf club selections in these circumstances, but there is a good reason to think about these circumstances before you choose the club. I hope some of these golf tips will help in your decision process, and your goal to save strokes.

Alicia
